This month’s MCHA educational series has an exciting new format to share a lot of important information directly to our front line staff about one of the main reasons people visit our destination – our special events.  For the very first time, we will be gathering the leaders of 21st Annual Sea Otter Classic, Big Sur International Marathon, Big Sur Half Marathon and the Mud Run, 53rd Annual Monterey Jazz Festival, AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am,  Pebble Beach Food & Wine and the Harvest Festival.  Details not normally covered in newspaper promotions will be shared by all.

By sending at least one individual from your business, they will have an opportunity to ask questions on the spot and bring back literature to share with your team.  Ideal for concierge, bellman, front desk, reservations and our bartenders – it is time and money well spent.  We encourage everyone to send at least one representative.  Due to the high level of guest speakers,

The 21st Annual Sea Otter Classic will be held April 14-17, 2011 at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, Monterey, CA. Big Sur International Marathon, Big Sur Half Marathon and the Mud Run:
Julie Armstrong, Marketing & Communications Director

The non-profit Big Sur Marathon organization promotes three annual events:  the Big Sur International Marathon each spring (typically the last Sunday in April), the Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay each November, and the Mud Run each March.  In addition, the organization promotes JUST RUN, a year-round youth fitness program with two major JUST RUN! Just Kids 3K races in conjunction with the marathon and half marathon events.  The Big Sur Marathon has been named as "the best destination marathon" as well as "most scenic" and "one of the country's top three marathons."  The Big Sur Half is also a well respected event that draws top elite runners to compete for prize money.  The popular Big Sur events typically sell out well in advance of race day.  A two-day Health and Fitness Expo takes place at the Monterey Conference Center on Friday and Saturday preceding both the full and half marathon events.  For more info:  www.bsim.org or 831-625-6226.
