I would have to say so far so
good in 2010. We’ve had a fantastic annual dinner thanks to Mia McKee and her
great committee. Gerard Mattimoe and a bunch of hard working volunteers once
again put on a tremendous Employee Appreciation Day and congratulations to the
Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa for winning the overall competition. The education
committee held is first “events” panel to inform our front line employees on
different events going on in the area. Our second one will be held in September
and we look forward to another great panel discussion.
Of course our Government affairs committee led by our Government Affairs
Director Bob McKenzie has been very, very busy. We have been working extremely
hard on the water situation in our county, opening up Monterey for competitive
Taxi service, endorsing political candidates who understand the value of our
Hospitality community, engaging in a new process to improve and revitalize
downtown Monterey and a host of many other subjects. We have also established a
new Task Force to tell the hospitality “story” to our public officials and our
community.
Coming up the Golf committee will be getting busy putting on our annual
tournament to be held at Bayonet/Blackhorse on October 21st. John Lloyd and his
committee are already working on this years annual Hospitality Recognition
Luncheon to be held November 2.
I would like to thank all of our members for their continued membership and
service, thanks to our great Board members and our executive committee and of
course our Executive Director Bonnie Adams for your dedication and hard work
this year. I have a good feeling we will have a most successful end of the year.
